4-Day Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Gombe National Park

Your journey starts with a morning flight from Dar es Salaam to Kigoma, a peaceful town on the edge of Lake Tanganyika. From here, you continue by boat to Gombe National Park—a scenic ride with beautiful views of the lake and green hills.

Once you arrive, you head straight into the forest for your first chimpanzee trekking experience. This is not like a game drive—you walk, follow your guide, and slowly track the chimps. When you finally find them, it feels exciting and real.

After the trek, you can relax by the lake. Swim, sit by the shore, or simply enjoy the calm surroundings.

Wake up early for another day in the forest. Today is another chance to see the chimpanzees, and every trek is different. Sometimes they are quiet, sometimes very active—it always feels natural and unscripted.

In the afternoon, you have time to rest or enjoy the lake again.

Later in the evening, you can choose to go for a sunset canoe ride. It’s a peaceful experience—just you, the water, and the changing colors of the sky.

This morning is slower and relaxed. You’ll take a guided walk through the forest to the waterfalls—a cool and refreshing spot surrounded by nature.

You will also visit the chimpanzee feeding station area, where you learn a bit about the early research and conservation work in Gombe.

Afterward, take a boat ride back to Kigoma. The afternoon is free to relax at your lodge.

After breakfast, prepare for your departure.

If your flight is later in the day, you can visit the Livingstone Museum in Ujiji for a short cultural tour. This historic place tells the story of early explorers and local history, adding a different touch to your trip.

Later, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam.
