6-Day Uganda Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari

You leave Kampala in the morning and begin your journey toward Kibale Forest National Park. The drive takes you through changing landscapes, from busy towns to open countryside and green hills.

Along the way, you pass tea plantations and crater lakes, offering a clear introduction to western Uganda’s scenery. After arrival, you take a short visit to the crater lakes area, where the environment feels calm and scenic.

You check into your lodge in the evening, surrounded by forest and quiet surroundings.

After breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee trekking experience.

The forest feels alive as you walk through it. You follow trackers who guide you toward the chimpanzees, listening for calls and movement. When you find them, you spend time observing how they interact, move, and feed.

After the trek, you return for lunch and begin your transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive is smooth, and the landscape gradually changes into open savannah.

You arrive in the evening and settle into your lodge.

You start early with a morning game drive across the park’s open plains.

This is a good time to see wildlife when it is more active. You may come across elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and predators moving through the grasslands. The experience feels open and easy to follow.

Later in the day, you head to the Kazinga Channel for a boat safari. This is one of the most rewarding parts of the park, where animals gather near the water.

You see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds along the banks, all within close range. The experience feels calm and steady, offering a different perspective from the game drive.

After breakfast, you leave Queen Elizabeth and head toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

The journey passes through the Ishasha sector, known for its tree-climbing lions. You keep an eye on the trees as you drive, with chances to spot wildlife along the way.

The landscape becomes more elevated and greener as you approach Bwindi. The road winds through hills and forest, creating a clear transition into the final destination.

You arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, where the setting feels quiet and surrounded by nature.

After an early breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your gorilla trekking experience. The trek takes you through dense forest, guided by rangers and trackers.

The walk can take time depending on the location of the gorillas, but the experience builds as you move deeper into the forest. When you find them, everything slows down. You spend time observing their behavior in a natural setting.

After the trek, you return to the lodge for rest. Later in the day, you visit the Batwa community, where you learn about their traditional way of life and connection to the forest.

After breakfast, you begin your journey back to Kampala.

The drive takes you through open landscapes and small towns, with a stop at the Equator for photos and a short break. You also have time to explore local shops for souvenirs.

You arrive in the evening, marking the end of your Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee safari.
