Experience an unforgettable adventure on Lake Tanganyika aboard a traditional dhow boat. As the world’s second deepest lake, Lake Tanganyika offers crystal-clear waters and a gateway to one of Tanzania’s most pristine locations. Explore Mahale Mountains National Park, home to an estimated population of around 1,000 chimpanzees, studied by Japanese researchers since the 1960s.
Your safari highlights include thrilling chimpanzee treks, birdwatching, fishing trips, kayaking, beachside barbecues, and relaxing sundowners around a campfire.
Our itinerary primarily includes flights from Arusha, but we understand that flexibility is key for our travelers. If you prefer to start your journey from Dar es Salaam, we can easily accommodate that. We can organize flights with Air Tanzania directly from Dar es Salaam to Kigoma Airport for you.
Once you arrive at Kigoma Airport, our services will commence, ensuring a seamless transition into your adventure. Whether you choose to fly from Arusha or Dar es Salaam, we are here to tailor your trip to meet your needs.
For those arriving in Kigoma, we offer a return transfer to Mbali Mbali Mahale Lodge. This involves a vehicle transfer from Kigoma to Lagossa/Mgambo Village, followed by a scenic dhow boat ride to the lodge. Note that all guests using this transfer will need to return to Kigoma for their final night before departing with Air Tanzania. We recommend staying at our sister property, Kigoma Hilltop Hotel, for your convenience.
