10 Day Cross Country Kenya & Tanzania Safari

When you arrive in Kenya in the morning, you will be warmly welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred directly to Amboseli National Park.

Although Amboseli is smaller than many of Kenya’s other parks, it offers an incredible concentration of wildlife and some of the most breathtaking views in Africa. Towering above the plains is the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m), creating a dramatic backdrop for your safari experience.

As you explore the park, you’ll have the chance to encounter large-tusked elephants, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeests, gazelles, and many more. Bird lovers can also enjoy spotting some of the 420 recorded bird species that thrive in this diverse ecosystem.

Begin your morning with an early game drive through Amboseli, exploring the park’s wildlife until late morning. Afterward, enjoy a picnic lunch before departing for the Namanga Border, where you will cross into Tanzania and continue toward Tarangire National Park via Arusha city. You’ll arrive in Tarangire by late afternoon and head to your lodge for check-in and an early dinner before setting out on an unforgettable night game drive.

The night game drive offers a rare opportunity to witness the park’s nocturnal animals—creatures that remain hidden during daylight hours. As you travel through the darkness, guided only by the stars and your vehicle’s headlights, the bush comes alive with new sights and sounds.

Your expert guide will help you spot night-active wildlife and interpret the unique sounds of the nocturnal wilderness. Their knowledge of the area’s flora and fauna will enrich your experience, making this nighttime adventure both thrilling and educational.

Begin your day with a healthy breakfast at the lodge, then join a guided game drive through Tarangire National Park.

The park features open landscapes dotted with baobab and acacia trees and is known for having the highest concentration of wildlife in the Northern Circuit. You may spot animals such as zebra, cheetah, giraffe, lion, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, kori bustards, antelopes, and large herds of elephants.

After enjoying your time in the park, you will leave in the afternoon and continue on to Karatu, where you will spend the night.

After an early breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater’s rich volcanic soil supports a variety of habitats, making it one of the best places to see the Big Five in a single day. Inside the area, there is Lake Magadi (a Maasai word meaning “soda lake”), which attracts many bird species.

The park is also known for the Maasai communities who live in traditional circular bomas.

During the game drive, you can expect to see lions, buffaloes, wildebeests, numerous birds, zebras, hippos, gazelles, jackals, foxes and other wild dogs, elands, waterbucks, servals, and other ungulates. After the game drive, you will enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing with a transfer game drive to Central Serengeti for dinner and an overnight stay at your accommodation.

Start your day with an early morning game drive, giving you the opportunity to witness a beautiful African sunrise in the wild (with an optional hot air balloon ride). After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and some time to relax.

In the late afternoon or evening, you’ll head out again for another game drive to explore the plains and search for more African wildlife before returning to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Early morning activities like sunrise viewing and game drives offer a great chance to spot the Big Five and many other animals, as this is when wildlife is most active and hunting for food. If you wish, you can also book a hot air balloon safari on this day (optional).

After enjoying a cup of coffee, you’ll head out to explore the Serengeti as the wilderness awakens, with animals moving through the dew-covered grasses of the central region. Later, you will continue to the northern part of the park, where you’ll spend two nights at a camp, hoping to witness the famous river crossings during the Great Migration.

The Great Wildebeest Migration in the Northern Serengeti is one of the most spectacular natural events on Earth. Each year, millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles travel between Tanzania’s Serengeti and Kenya’s Maasai Mara in search of fresh grass.

One of the most dramatic moments occurs at the Mara River, where thousands of wildebeests leap into the water, battling strong currents and waiting crocodiles. It’s an unforgettable scene and one of the best places to witness the raw struggle for survival in the wild.

After an early morning breakfast, you will be picked up from your accommodation for a refreshing morning game drive inside the reserve.

Following a warm welcome and lunch at the camp, prepare for an exciting afternoon game drive. As the golden African sunlight spreads across the savannah, you’ll have the chance to spot incredible wildlife such as lions, cheetahs, wildebeests, baboons, and other members of the Big Five. The Mara’s rich biodiversity ensures that every moment is filled with excitement.

As the day comes to an end, you’ll return to camp for a delicious dinner and a peaceful night’s rest. The natural sounds of the wild will lull you to sleep as you prepare for more adventures ahead.

After breakfast, you will head out for a morning game drive. Afterwards, your Kenyan guide will pick you up for your transfer back to Nairobi. You will stop for lunch along the way (at an additional cost) before continuing to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international departure, or to your Nairobi hotel whichever option applies. This marks the end of your safari.
